Ford
Big things aren’t always the best.
By the time I made this health-training film for Ford, I was in my late 20s. It was only 15 minutes long but the budget was £250k, 15 actors, including 2 famous ones, 25 crew, shot on Super 16mm film.
I realised how difficult and demanding drama is to direct, especially if you have conceived the idea and written the script yourself. Too much responsibility on one set of shoulders. Film-making works best as a collaborative activity not just one person with a vision and lots of others helping them pull it off.
I rang my Dad and told him I’d had enough of film-making - then ran off to Spain for a month and fell in love.
